Provided by YP.comWent to the Dino exhibit on a Sunday. Firstly I'll state that while I felt the exhibit was overpriced, I don't have any issues with the exhibit itself but rather with the Tallahassee Civic Center.
It's been a long time since I've been to the Tallahassee Civic Center. We pull into the parking lot and immediately get charged $8 to park which I find ridiculous. ANYTHING you go to at the CC is going to be very pricey so to charge that kind of a parking fee is messed up to me.
As we're walking towards the building we see stairs, we have a stroller. No ramp in sight. I wonder, what do the wheel-chaired folks do?!? So, I just paid $8 and I have to deal with no ramp?!?
We walk inside, I have to go potty. No bathroom on that floor (3rd floor). At-least nothing accessible as there are some doors locked which may have one back there. Check the 2nd floor, nope! Get down to the 1st floor and immediately all these workers are shouting at us "This way, this way to the exhibit!" I can see that, I'm not stupid. I'm looking for a bathroom BEFORE having to stand in line for 10 mins to pay to get into this thing. Found out later there is no bathroom accessible out there anyways. Geez!
We pay and go inside the exhibit, a guy immediately asks us to take a 3D photo. We decline and ask where the restroom is. His answer: All the way the freak on the other side of EVERYTHING! It took at least 5 mins to navigate through all people to get there. I'm pregnant and "ain't nobody got time for that!"
Like I said before, exhibit was fine, enjoyable etc.. Then comes the part where I REALLY had had enough with the Tallahassee Civic center. Stopped by the concession stand. Wanted to get a soda to wet our whistle. My counterpart on this adventure pays $4 for a medium sized soda. I told counterpart prior to make sure there was no ice bc I know how places rip you off by filling the cup 3/4 with ice and barely any soda. Counterpart comes back and there was ice but I assumed she didn't remember to say "no ice" and that I would just get a refill. Well, surprise, surprise that drink went fast. I have to wait in line to get a refll, oh well. While standing there I survey the signs to make sure none of them say "no refill". They did not, so I stay in line. Go to hand my drink to cashier and she says "sorry no refills, the health codes say we can't bring a cup that's been drank from back here" UGH! What the deuce?! I was at Chick fil'a the day prior and wow, they totally gave me a refill. So WEIRD!!! Then I say "well, y'all should have a sign up saying no refills" She gives a lackluster attempt at being sorry, with a strong look of hatred in her eyes. I guess the manager told her to give this excuse to people so he could save $$ on soda and I feel it was purposeful that there are no signs saying no refill. Also, I found out that counterpart DID tell cashier "no ice" and we were given it anyways!!
It's just a sorry place all around.
I will think long and hard before going to any events there again.
ZERO stars!
