Provided by YP.comI am an African American women with natural hair and I asked the owner if she would wash and blow dry my hair. She immediately told me that we don't do that ... we don't do that type of hair. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but Dominicans descended from AFRICA. Most "black" dominican hair is naturally curly or the derogatory term, "nappy". The "white" dominicans can thank Spanish colonization for their straighter curls.
I was horrified by her comments and had to find a Dominican lady (on Waters Ave) who was willing to straighten my hair. In New York, Dominican shops have a high African American Clientele. Dominicans are pros at straightening curly hair ... perhaps to eliminate the stigma that anything "black" is bad or bad hair is bad. E&J has lost a lot of business and many of the women that used to get relaxers from them are GOING NATURAL.
If you are going to operate a business in the USA (in order to make money), you need to service all clients and not just those that want relaxers!
The economy is bad now so perhaps they are willing to realize that all money is the same color: GREEN!
