Provided by YP.comExcellent ride! The owner and guide, Melissa, was incredibly knowledgable about the geology, flora and fauna of the area. Each of her horses were rescues, and she imparted each of their stories, which made us appreciate the ride all that more.
I recommend making reservations, as even though you may see many more horses in the paddock, they may not all be available to ride due to age, or the stage of their rehabilitation, e.g. they need to put on more weight or need to be trained to saddle.
I didn't give more than a 30 minute notice, however, I got lucky in that she wasn't already booked solid.
The views were phenomenal and she knows where to stop and will take pictures for you.
She also knew about the back road to the Gorge Bridge and shared that information too, giving us another spectacular sight-seeing drive along side the Rio Grande all the way to the top of the plateau.
The stable was much closer to Taos than the more commercial trail rides. The fee was comparable, however, her knowledge of the area, as well as being a rescue ranch, I felt she could've charged much more than she did (so I made up for it in the tip.)
