Provided by YP.comI was driving my friend's Jeep when the "check engine" light went on. I took the Jeep to Doc's because I knew that the owner of the Jeep had taken it there before. Well, that was the last time either one of us went to that place.
Long story short. The guy came and scanned the Jeep and the error that it was giving was cylinder #3. Cause being the usual; spark plug, wire, coil... He opened the hood and loudly stated to me "Field mice! They chew the wires. Oh yes, the wires are all chewed up." I followed him to where he was standing and I was looking at the wires there in the semi dark after sunset. I didn't see anything chewed up so I asked "where?" He changed the subject and closed the hood. Well, I figured that this guy is a pro, he saw something that I didn't see, so we made an appointment for the following morning at 9 am. As the guy was walking away from the car I asked him how much it will be, he said $180. At that point I felt that I was being ripped off royally. I cancelled the appointment.
The next day a friend of ours, a former mechanic, looked at the wires and doubled my opinion; nothing was chewed up, the wires were fine. May I repeat; FINE.
The owner of the Jeep took it to another shop in Taos the next day and turned out that there was only a gasket that needed a little tightening. Nothing wrong with the wires according to these guys as well.
Shortly, if you have extra money in your wallet and you are looking for a place to just dump it, these guys will take care of you. If you need some actual work done on your car, that is really necessary, go some place else.
