Florida Department of Children and Families is a public service agency of the state of Florida. Located in Tallahassee, Fla., the agency offers a range of programs and services to protect children, the elderly and the disabled from abuse and neglect. The department is responsible for nearly 19,000 children in foster care and it finds permanent homes for children who cannot safely be reunited with their families. It also offers services that help families on a day-to-day basis and provides food stamps and temporary cash assistance and determines eligibility for Medicaid. Additionally, Florida Department of Children and Families provides access to substance abuse and mental health treatment and works with community partners who provide services to families threatened by homelessness and domestic violence.

I would give it a minus 10 if ...

I would give it a minus 10 if that option were available. They choose to look the other way so they don't have to do any work. Just think if they followed through on ajust ONE complaint or information handed to them they might find out the truth, why bother is there attitude too much trouble. DCF called me about concerns and I told them of drug use in the home, they never investigated any further. They just wanted to close their case. A family member also made an anonymous call to DCF which also was not followed up on. Safety of children? Give me a break, my Grandchildren from my daughter have been placed with their enabling Grandmother and her husband who never even raised her own son and then chose to look the other way when her son manufactured illegal substances. Even after I spoke with her. They live minutes away and saw this happening every day, I live 40 minutes away and KNEW, so did they. What ever happened to telling the truth in a court of law? What ever happened to ignorance is no excuse! The son couldn't even step up to the plate and marry the mother of his three children, all he wanted was food stamps and handouts.....but he could make sure she was arrested and that his mother had my grandchildren.....DCF is allowing them to control the situation from jail & prison and this way they can stay in contact with each other....isn't that special? DCF APPROVED !!!! Funny when I post poctures of the case worker drinking beer they seem to disappear......the family photo was taken at a childrens birthday party with pot smoking....DCF approved also.

The drive here was a complete ...

The drive here was a complete waste of gas. The staff was completely unwilling to help...they just kept telling me to go on the computer. I have a computer at home..don't need to use theirs. The main lady at her desk was the most unhelpful, she just wouldn't answer my questions or concerns. It was quite different than other locations I have been to. However, I will say that others who came in were helped right away, but they weren't caucasian like me.
