The Lake County Department of Growth Management is responsible for short- and long-range planning; review, permitting and inspection of land development and monitoring of the environment in unincorporated Lake County, Fla. Growth management assists and advises the county manager and the board of county commissioners on policy development and implementation relative to growth management. The department collects all fees involved with development plan reviews. It strives for code compliance, but has the authority to impose fines and liens to assure compliance. The department consists of a variety of divisions that include building services, geographic Information systems, code enforcement, comprehensive planning, planning and development services, public lands management, and zoning and customer services. The Lake County Department of Growth Management is located in Tavares, Fla.
