Taylorsville Elementary School enrolls more than 500 students in grades kindergarten through five. The student-teacher ratio in the school is 20-to-1. The academic programs at school are based on the Georgia core curriculum and include reading and writing, language arts, foreign language, math, science and social studies. A guided reading approach in combination with a literature-based reader is used to teach reading. A strong emphasis on phonics is stressed in the lower grades. The various clubs associated with the school are art club, science, Olympiad, chorus, dance and karate. It is equipped with computer lab, multipurpose room, cafeteria and a media center. Located in Taylorsville, Ga., the school is a part of the Bartow County School District.
