Provided by YP.comI rented Grand Oaks for the weekend of Sept. 14th 2013
The unfortunate things that occurred:
*The house was dirty on arrival. (When i called the home owner Phil Wyman his exact words were "well, I don't know what to tell you")
*There was no toilet paper, hand soap, laundry soap, paper towels. (In all of the homes I've rented over the years I was supplied more than enough of these basic items to sustain a weekends stay, and they were not charging $1,000 a day)
*2nd sink in master bedroom only dribbled water.
*Shower in master bedroom leaked.
*Poor pluming, the water in master bedroom shower was scalding hot even when on completely cold setting.
*The bed in master bedroom was very uncomfortable. We had to go buy a mattress topper to be able to sleep.
*No WIFI.
*No home phone.
*All the plugs in kitchen stopped working because of a bad breaker (almost all of my wedding food spoiled because the fridge was no longer on)
*Very few towels in the whole house, so the extra people that stayed with us had to go buy one for their stay.
*Minimal cook wear in the kitchen. There was no pot to boil water, no spatula, slotted spoons, serving spoons, good knife, large bowls, no colander, cutting board. The only 2 pans were small and disgusting. This was the most bare and unfortunate kitchen I've ever had to deal with. I actually had to borrow a ton of stuff from family in the area so I and my guests could survive the Thur-Tue stay.
*3 Random people walked into the house on Monday evening stating that Phil Wyman told them to come and look at the house at that time. Even though I had the home booked until Tuesday at 11am.
*I felt like the home was better decorated when I saw it the first time. When I came in 2 days before the wedding I felt that the house was very bare and lacking in luster that it once had.
Mind you I was renting this house for $3000 for Friday afternoon - Monday at 11am including the cleaning fee. Not including the extra money for Thursday & Tuesday.
For a $1,000 a day I'd expect so much more. Phil Wyman truly does not treat this like a home, He treats it like a business.
He should realize this is the biggest day in some peoples lives and his home and attitude don't make it all that special.
My husband and I love one another and having all these mishaps isn't tearing us apart and we still had a great wedding because of each other and our family's but I'd never suggest anyone getting married here. It was one of the worst home rental experiences of my life and this wasn't my first rodeo. I've rented enough houses on business and vacation to know what realistic expectations are. The grand oak tree in the back is grand, but not worth a $1,000 a day. Brides to be, spend your hard earned money some where else.
