When I was a kid, I always wanted to live there because I thought it looked so "homey", but when I grew up, there was never a vacancy. When I finally saw a "for rent" sign, I immediately contacted the landlord and happily moved in. A few years later, the owner died and left the apartment complex to her daughter. BIG MISTAKE. She hiked up the rent by a few hundred dollars, threw out anyone she didn't like for whatever reason (including many elderly people who didn't do anything to deserve such treatment), and sued people when things would go wrong with the building (even though they played no part in the incidents). There is ALWAYS a "for rent" sign out front now. Doesn't that tell you something?!
