The company I work for purchased GPS Fleet Solutions’ GPS Heavy Equipment Unit last year. In my opinion, to say this device is unreliable is an understatement. The Heavy Equipment GPS Unit was purchased for a theft deterrent mechanism to put on a piece of equipment, as equipment theft is rampant in our region…. We left the geofence parameter turned on (rather than disarming it) while moving equipment in order to test the effectiveness of the Heavy Equipment Unit when we first hooked it up. I’m glad we did that because we know how unreliable this product is. It HARDLY EVER alarms us when equipment is moved outside the geofence set up. In addition, we are supposed to get a weekly report and haven’t got one in months…Also, we set the system up to create an automatic geofence around the equipment daily and we have often found the system not to have done it…. In addition to all of this, I feel GPS Fleet Solutions’ has done a poor job in providing customer service to us. We don’t know whose working on our issues from one month to the next.. In less than a year, two technical representatives working with us on our issues have left the company (so we were told). Every time someone leaves we have to rehash our Heavy Equipment Unit problems with the next technical support person assigned to us. It has been over a month since the last technical rep said he’d get back with us. Luckily, our company only purchased one unit - this unit was purchased as a tester before making a major purchase of other needed units. Needless to say, I feel we will be taking our business elsewhere.
