Provided by YP.comI lived in the University Apartments in Unit 1 for four years. Unit 1 was built in the '60s and is outdated. There's also no elevator in Unit 1. And, to save a little money, the management turns the boilers down during winter break when most, but not all (!), students go home to see their families. But they tell you that you're not allowed to use space heaters because they don't want to be liable if there's a fire. In fact, the management was downright arrogant and self-serving. They had a problem with bed bugs, so they told everyone in Units 1 and 2 that they had to move out, and they turned those units into undergraduate housing. They also raised the rent substantially to force current residents out. That was their way of getting rid of the foreign students who would bring in furniture from the dumpsters and spread bed bugs around. They didn't want to be held liable in case anyone sued them for bed bugs. Unit 2 in particular was really bad and infested. Students from Africa, Indonesia, and India with no knowledge of microorganisms were incapable of following instructions on how to prevent bed bugs from spreading. And they were reluctant to even call management to address the problem, so the infestation just kept getting worse. In the minds of the management, you’re apparently just supposed to catch a cold while ISU is sitting on stockpiles of money because they decided to cheap out on you and cover their own asses. Or better yet just move out so they don't have to deal with you and your problems. But, hey, they don’t have to live there, so why should they care?!
