The Bowie County Correctional Center is managed by the Private Facility Contract Monitoring/Oversight Division, which is administered by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The center houses female inmates and maintains more than 380 beds. The Private Facility Contract Monitoring/Oversight Division is responsible for oversight and monitoring of contracts for privately operated secure and community-based facilities. The division manages more than five privately operated correctional centers that houses minimum custody offenders. It also oversees various privately operated state jails that houses felons and transfer offenders. The Private Facility Contract Monitoring/Oversight Division additionally administers various transitional treatment centers and substance abuse felony punishment facilities.
