Provided by YP.comHave eaten at Cody’s Lake Sumter three times in last 6 weeks. A guest visiting for 5 nites wanted to go back a 2nd time. Love the baby back ribs, the endless salad, onion rings and sauce to die for, and best hot rolls w cinnamon butter. Delicious! Waited quite a while for food at the bar the last time but normally food pretty prompt. It isn’t neat and tidy...you throw peanut shells on the floor, for goodness sake, but food worth it. Live entertainment is good too!

Provided by YP.comThe din in the restaurant is overwhelming...The service is acceptable, depending on the server; the food is over done for the most part and the price of Yuegling (sp) beer is $12.50 a regular pitcher....$12.50 for domestic beer!!!!...Only go there for the 2/1 fajitas...on Wed...

Provided by YP.comJust had dinner tonight with my husband and brother-in-law. Simple order... Burgers and chicken. Waited an exorbitant amount of time for the order ( after rush hour - about 8:30 pm). Two dinners as ordered- one burger ordered medium rare arrived very well done/ sent it back. Everyone finished dinner when the re-ordered burger arrived .......we'll done. Sent it back. Waitress apologized / manager took burger off the bill. Never have sent food back Twice in my entire life!
Definitely a problem here in the kitchen and with management. By the way.... I have worked in Foodservice for 43 years. I have only sent food back 3 times ( twice tonight) - they never got it right!

Provided by YP.comWe once again had the pleasure of taking out of town guest to dine at Cody's. Thank you Ashley for waiting on us and thanks to James and Carrie making sure we were well taken care of. It is so nice to see friendly faces in a very busy place. The food was good and served in a timely manner. We look forward to returning to eat at Cody's.

Provided by YP.comI am so horrified by what I just witnessed in your business by a man who claimed to be the general manager and the server said his name was James... A faily next to us whom I spoke with outside before coming in and she was a very polite and well informed woman about the Villages as My husband and I were there looking for a new home..(which I am giving a second thought if this is the type of people that work in these places out here..Plus I am sending this letter to the ceo of the Villages and the local paper... The woman was having a problem and was being polite this rude and untrained man was so nasty and didn't have one skill nor training in him..I will never visit one of your establishments again nor will anyone I know..This man told this woman and her family to get out and raised his hand to her she was in tears and my husband almost got up to knock this man down..Who is this kid who thinks he is a man to talk to customers like he did no matter what was going on.. What a disqusting way to run a business..
Signed a very unhappy customer

Provided by YPmobileJust received horrible service. Waitress Heidi was slow and inattentive. We never received a refill for the whole meal until we flagged down manager Brian who didn't seem to care we were receiving bad service. No excuses the restaurant was almost empty. No apologie from Brian the Manger and no offer for a discount on the bill. Not the kind of service you expect in the villages. Don't eat a Cody's. Plenty of other choices with best service and better food.

Provided by YP.comMy husband and I went to your Restaurant in Sumter Landing, today and had the most pleasant waitress, her name was Ashley, she was pleasant from the time we arrived until we left... The food was delicious, and hot...Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for anyone to go to, not sure when we will be back as we are from Nova Scotia, Canada, but if and when we do come back for a visit, we will certainly make Cody's Orginal Roadhouse in Sumter Landing one of our stopping places.. Thank you Ashley for making our lunch so pleasant....Ron and Donna Barkhouse

Provided by YPmobileThe food is always good. My golf group eats lunch there a couple times a month. The last two times we ate there I noticed that the mens bathroom smelled like a gas station bathroom from the '60s. In other words, it hadn't been cleaned for quite a while.

Provided by YP.comThe manager acted as if my girlfriend and I were his personal enemy..He is a fat punk and if I wasn't with her I would have told this punk exactly that..Service and food were aweful. Update 7/29/13 spoke with the new manager Barry he was professional and informed me that the old manager that was rude does not work there anymore. After my next visit if all goes well and we are treated as guests and don't have to wait 35 minutes at our table for our drinks I will change my review.

Provided by YP.comThe food is average, service below average. Stopped on the way home for early dinner and we were seated in the porch. It was rather chilly out, so the staff put out propane heaters and the porch area had been mostly closed off. Two people walked in alone and sat at the table behind us. When staff asked if they had been seated, the gentleman replied "No, we just walked in and got a table." Even though there was about a 40 minute wait for a table (God only knows why). Staff did not escort them out to wait. The man then began to chain smoke. I'm asthmatic, and immediately needed my inhaler - the patio, as I mentioned early, was closed in and heated (it was TOO warm) due to the cold weather. I told the waitress the smoke was bothering me, and she sent a gentleman over. I stated I couldn't believe they were letting people smoke in the closed in area with propane heaters on. He condescendingly replied that it was legal and that he was sorry, and walked away, without offering to relocate us or the other couple to another table, which would have solved the problem. Very unorganized and unprofessional staff and poor to average food, hardly a winning combination. And I will be writing to their corporate offices about their unprofessional manager.

Provided by YP.comDined tonight with a group of 34 people. Had a very unsatisfactory experience. Food was ok but the service was not so good. Only 1 waitress for 34 people and I guess she was stressed because she yelled about everything. Someone asked for more rolls and she said there had been 6 baskets with 6 rolls each and she never brought anymore. I believe the menu says unlimited rolls and salad.
She wrote numbers on the table cloth but when the food came they just yelled out and asked who got what! I asked the lady bringing out the food why they did not use the numbers and bring the food to the proper person. She said they did not use the numbers only the waitresses. My suggestion would be that the waitress write the number on the meal ticket and all this yelling would not have to occur. It is much nicer if the food is brought to you rather than some one yelling out if you get this or not.
The food came out at different times. A couple people got theirs after the rest of us were finished. When the waitress was asked why someone's food had not come she replyed that we were a large group to take care of and it would come when it was ready. ( not in a nice way)

Provided by YP.comFood was great but we went with our dog and inquired BEFORE we decided to eat there of the rules with a dog. We were told we were welcome to eat on the Patio at the tables with umbrellas but not on the Porch with the ceiling fans. While we were eating a man with a small dog came through the Patio and sat his dog in a tall chair on the Porch and tied him there and went inside. The dog barked, yipped and yapped and finally the owner came back and sat the dog in his lap. I asked a manager why this fella could eat under the fans with his dog... the manager said the fella was "a regular who came almost every day!" SERIOUSLY???? Our waitress said we couldn't eat on the Porch due to "Health Regulations" but I guess if you are a "regular" those regs don't count!!! Won't eat there again due to double standards but gave two stars 'cause the food was really good!
