Turkey Knob Growers is an alliance of seven grower entities whose combined land totals some 6,000 acres. This alliance was formed in 1994 with three partners. In addition, its principle crop, Turkey Knob apples are grown in Virginia s mineral-enriched limestone soil. The entire crop of fresh, premium apples are packed at their peak ripening time at one centralized location in Timberville, Va., to keep the flavor and juice locked in. Ginger Gold, Fuji, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala, York and Pink Lady are among the many varieties harvested each fall.
