Provided by YP.comMy mother, who just recently celebrated her 90th birthday (at West Park Place, BTW), has been a resident at West Park Place, 3501 Executive Pkwy, Toledo, OH for almost 3 years. Simply put, she couldn't be happier there! Our experience with _all_ of the employees and administrative staff has been very positive. My impression--and that of my 5 siblings--is that West Park Place goes to great lengths to make their residents feel welcome and at home. West Park Place plans and organizes a wide variety of activities not just for the benefit of its residents, but for their extended families as well. My wife and I and kids/grandkids have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the annual summer picnic and 'Breakfast With Santa', and other themed luncheon events hosted by West Park Place for extended families.
Since I am one of two siblings living locally, before mom moved to West Park Place, it would be my responsibility to take her to her medical appointments and various shopping trips/errands. WPP provides this service--among many others--for its residents. In my mom's case, it is a way that helps her continue to feel independent and in control.
For a senior who has made the decision to leave the comfort zone of their own home (after, in my mom's case, 60 years in her own home), West Park Place offers a perfect fit for her. One of reasons the transition was made smoother was because the employees at West Park Place treat residents with loving respect and kindness.
I would strongly urge anyone looking on behalf of an aging parent, to include West Park Place in your search.

Provided by YP.comMy father has been a resident at West Park Place for 2 years. During this time my father; whom has dementia has been treated with dignity, respect and caring from all of the staff. He considers West Park Place "home"...when myself or my sister takes him out for errands or a family gathering, he is always anxious to get home. He loves the privacy of his own apartment, it looks just like his old house! He loves to play cards and when the mood strikes, all he has to do is go downstairs to find may willing card partners! He enjoys having dinner in the dining room and has favorite entrees and favorite waitresses! Whenever I am visiting, it makes me feel good to see all of the staff interact with him as if he were their family too! The staff checks on him twice a day which makes me feel good. An added bonus is that the housekeepers clean his apartment weekly which is a job I no longer have to worry about. My father adores the bus driver Mo who takes him out to Kroger. I can't say enough good things about the caring and compassionate staff whom obviously were born to do this type work!

Provided by YP.comMake sure this is the right place for your parents if they need assisted living. When my sisters and I realized my parents had alzheimers and needed help, we interviewed and researched assisted living facilities for them. We were up front when we interviewed West Park Place, they assured us they could provide the right care for them. Well, they couldn't. Soon after moving them in, we had a sense that something was wrong. We would call long distance since we don't live in Toledo, but the nursing staff never returned our calls. We soon came to realize that our parents were not getting the right care. When we got a call from our father that our mother had overdosed on Tylenol and was taken to the hospital, we were in a panic because we couldn't quickly come to their aid. Well, we hired the nursing staff to assist with her medications, and they obviously weren't watching her. We were very up front with her memory issues when we talked to the staff, we told them that she can't administer her own meds because she gets confused. Instead of letting us find an appropriate place for them, West Park Place kicked my mother out on the spot and said she could not come back since she overdosed. We were out of town and had no where to place her, and it was 2 days before Christmas. It was such a nightmare! We were up front with our parents' conditions and they practically insisted we move them there. It seemed once they got the money, they no longer cared and would not talk to us when we tried to figure out what on earth was going on. Luckily we had lawyer in town who helped place them elsewhere on extremely short notice 2 days before Christmas. Do your research on what this place can offer if your parents need help with medications or any sort of nursing care. Don't believe if they tell you they can help with alzheimer's, they will turn their back on you when they are needed.
