Founded in 1986 as Image Source, Thread is a business strategy, marketing and technology consultant. The company began as a technology services provider that offered micrographics, photography and document management. Over time, it began to offer an increasingly complex array of services. It added strategic business planning, marketing communications, information technology and database web applications to its arsenal. By the early 1990s, Thread was representing Fortune 500 companies, such as Owens Corning, General Motors, Fifth Third Bank and Microsoft Corporation. The company officially changed its name to Thread in 2003 and opened branch offices in Detroit and Durham, N.C., the following year. Thread maintains its headquarters in Maumee, Ohio.
