Inappropriate remark ended my patient status

I became a patient of Mr. Horen in 2003 and to this day I still vivid remember the day I stopped seeing him as a patient and why. At the time I was employed at a company that gave me benefits through a HMO and I resided in Toms River and his office in the Commons of of Rt 37 was close to my home and next to the exit from my job off the GSP. I'm not sure how many visits I had with him, but one of the reasons I was seeing him was to cope with stress from work and family. Typically my name tag from work was on my belt area of my slacks when I arrived for my appointment. I was a dark blonde who would get highlights in my hair that would go very light in summer, which was when I was hired, so my hair went very light a the time my ID badge was photographed. At one session towards the end, Mr. Horen abruptly commented about the photo on my badge, about how light my hair was- he laughed at me and said- "that's not your real hair color." Stunned at his absolute unprofessionalism and judgement, I looked at him and remarked something to the effect of asking him of what the relevance of that was to our counseling session. I don't remember what it was he said, but he persisted in laughing and questioning me in a mocking way, at which point I got up, and I know I said something to the effect of that I could not believe that I had to now write him a check for a co-pay of thirty-dollars for him to sit there and speak to me in that manner. He sat and smirked at me throughout the entire exchange. I left and never went back again, and I know I called the company who was handling mental health benefits for the Aetna HMO to complain. In my opinion the man is sadistic and judgemental. At the time I was obese but physically fit, with a very high lean body mass and no illness. What triggered this memory was viewing Gary Gulman being interviewed by Judd Apatow on HBO, talking about different therapists. At some point after this incident I had to return to the Commons to the same building, to LabCorp in the level below Mr. Horen's office, and it made me uneasy to even think about encountering him. I wish I had known at the time how to file a formal complaint, though in New Jersey it no doubt would have taken forever to be processed. I can only rely on karma to render justice at this point.
