Cotton O'Neil Vein Clinic
929 SW Mulvane St, Topeka, KS 66606
At the Vein Clinic, a unique service provided at the
Cotton-O’Neil Heart Center, we are please to offer effective treatment for venous insufficiency, the underlying cause for varicose veins.
Venous insufficiency develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become damaged or diseased. People have the outward appearance of varicose veins but inside a progressive medical condition is developing. Fortunately, medical technology available at the Cotton-O’Neil Heart Center can help those with this often-hereditary disease

- The Closure® procedure, an outpatient procedure performed at the Heart Center, offers women and men a minimally invasive solution to the pain and appearance of varicose veins. The Closure procedure allows interventional cardiologists to make a single small incision and seal the saphenous vein shut with a small catheter. Patients return to normal activities typically within a day. Best of all, once a defective saphenous vein is sealed shut or “occluded,” blood flow immediately diverts to healthy veins that have good valves, and cosmetic issues may be easier to address. All of our potential patients are examined prior to undergoing the Closure procedure to make sure they are appropriate candidates, and if they have conditions that may present any special risk. We chose this procedure because it is clinically proven to cause less post-operative pain than vein stripping.
