My child was enrolled at Leap & Bound on Hawthorne Blvd for about three months and our experience there was so poor that we withdrew him from the school immediately. We enjoyed our tour of the PV Blvd location so was excited about our child starting at the Torrance Blvd location. Unfortunately I would not recommend this school to anyone due to the following reasons 1) Highly disorganized- took almost two months to get an ID code to enter the door 2) High Teacher turnover- my child had three teachers in the span of three months 3) Not as clean as preferred- My child was sick every two weeks when he attended this school. It also seemed like the times I went to pick him up from school, there was a dirty diaper on the floor or kids looking for help on the potty or soap to wash their hands. 4) Not enough teachers/staff- In my opinion, there were way too many children and only one teacher per class (in the class my child was in, there were about 11 kids and only 1 teacher). A staff member complained to me that there weren't enough adults to watch the kids so that everyone could take a break-- seems like a big issue for everyone. 5) Multiple incident reports were sent home when my child came home school with bruises and scratches.

When My husband and I were looking at schools for our son, we wanted a focus on academics, so that he would be well prepared for kindergarten. Since attending Leap and Bound, our son can do math,;actually adding numbers through the touchpoint method, read, and write, all very well. I have seen a huge growth in his desire for learning, and believe that Leap and Bound has been the reason for that. There is a lot of homework though, usually 8-10 pages a week, which for us felt like a lot for a four year old. All in all, a great school if you are looking for an academic focus.

Love this school! We are very happy with experience at Leap and Bound in Torrance. We have so many compliments on their programs and special events. Our kids' teachers are very caring and know them well. The management has always been happy to answer our questions and really care about our kids. We love the monthly newsletters that keep us in the loop as to what is going on at the school. Most importantly, our kids love going to school and we are amazed at how much they are learning at such a young age. We give this school an A+!

Highly Recommend. We have had the BEST experience with Leap and Bound in Torrance. You wont find a better preschool for your children. I have experienced many schools and Leap and Bound is clearly at the top. The knowledgeable and caring staff and management communicate well and provide us with timely, accurate feedback on our children. Unlike some schools, Leap and Bound continues academic programs into the afternoon so that children that attend in the afternoon (like mine) receive more than just glorified daycare. They communicate with us by phone, email, newsletter, and postings. Events are POSTED on the entry doors, outside of classrooms and the office, in the newsletter and emails. We would have to be BLIND and ASLEEP to get an events time wrong. Ms D, the owner, is always professional and available to answer questions. In fact, I have even reached her in the evenings and on weekends! Her level of commitment by her speaks volumes about her concern for our children.

My twins have been students at Leap and Bound Academy in Torrance for 3 years. They are getting ready to "graduate " next month. They tested at a number of private elementary schools and were accepted into all of them! I have to credit the school and their teachers for not only their academic growth (they are both reading already) but for helping them grow up and become very happy, confident little people. I know they will be more than prepared elementary school in the fall!

My son was at Leaps and Bounds in Torrance for less than 2 weeks; the teachers really don't care with maybe the exception of one or two...not enough to make a difference. There are a lot of kids together and there is no structure or boundaries with the children that need discipline. Kids just run a muck without any guidance from the adult supervision and appropriate action is not carried out for the children who are problems and bully other kids. Would NEVER recommend the school... very disappointed!

This school doesn't concern enough the development of children. There are too many children in one tiny classroom. And, they mixed some younger children to older class so that they can save some costs on hiring teacher. The idea of having changing classroom is good. However, those tiny tiny classrooms are packed with 12+ children. It made them very stressed. The teacher has too many "negative descipine" in the classroom. All you hear is yelling and stop. The owner sounds professional. But, bottom line, all she cared is the money and how to run the business. The attitude is if you don't like it, leave. No passion. My son attended over there few weeks and we have to pull him out. He looked so stressed every day. And, he told us his teacher is very mean to him. And, he said the other is nice, only her. He is so traumatized even now, when we mentioned about Leap and Bound, he will say Ms.(xxxxxx) is very mean. I don't want to go there.

There is none better in our experience

We had two children at Leaps and Bounds. I found the owners Charlie and Dianne VERY responsive to any questions and needs. Our only problem was proximity to Manhattan Beach. When our son left the program he was starting to read. After 2 years in the public school system he is yet to catch up with where he left Leaps and Bounds. I recommend Leaps and Bounds to anyone who has education as a priority in child care. We really miss Leaps and Bounds and wish the public school system could adopt their dedication to excellent child care and teaching.

The best decision I ever made! A perfect preschool!

After weeks of exhaustive search for a suitable preschool for my sons, my husband and I stumbled upon a true gem of a school. As a former teacher, I am very picky about the services provided; most schools we looked at were just glorified day cares, and the Montessori schools were not structured enough. Leap and Bound Academy fuses elements of Montessori, private and public school philosophies and the outcome is brilliant: smiling, happy, bright kids! Children are rotated through 30 minute age-appropriate classes including Reading Readiness, math, science, Spanish, music and outdoor exploration. Whenenver we drop by (which is greatly encouraged at all times) everyone (teachers included) is smiling! My sons have just blossomed as a result of the excellent program. Kudos to the wonderful owners, director and teachers of this most amazing place. My only regret is that the school doesn't go through 12th grade!

Excellent teachers, high quality program, director and administrator are top notch.

I believe that this school produces some of the best prepared students for Kindergarten and 1st Grade. They love and care for each student and I highly recommend the school to all parents.

Some of the teachers are excellent.

Administration at this school is not very concerned about the students or their or family, and no one seems to want to be held accountable when there is a problem. Extremely unprofessional on many occasions. Would not recommend this school to anyone.
