Rivaled in beauty, only by The Great Smoky National Park, the views available from every hole are reminiscent of Laurel Valley's ridge-side neighbor ... Cades Cove. This challenging, yet playable, eighteen-hole regulation course, was designed by Edmund B. Ault, ASGCA, and features Bent Grass greens and Bermuda fairways. Changing elevation, meandering creeks, towering mountains, and an abundance of wildlife are at every turn. Although it is located inside a gated community, Laurel Valley Golf Course is open to public play and events, and offers practice areas, rental clubs, bar & 19th Hole.Rivaled in beauty, only by The Great Smoky National Park, the views available from every hole are reminiscent of Laurel Valley's ridge-side neighbor ... Nice but tuff

I played the course and only lost one ball. The greens and fairways were in great condition. A lot of blind shot. The fairways were tight and the green fast. The only negitive part was how hard the tee boxs were in placing your tees in the ground. You needed a hammer to put your tee in the ground. A great price for after 3 and super nice carts. Very hard on medium and high handicapers.

Great Place to Visit

I am not a golfer, so I did not actually play the course. But, I can tell you about the restaurant. It is great! We have been for dinner and for lunch. Excellent! The food is fresh and very very well prepared and delivered with expert presentation. The salmon Ceasar salad was very good and on another visit I had the yummy Chicken Cordon Bleu. The golf course looks beautiful from the deck where we ate. The guys playing golf down below seemed to enjoy themselves. Everything is so green and well manicured. Their azaleas were blooming and the grounds looked very inviting. I encourage everyone who comes to Townsend to go there to eat and play golf and to stay at the Highland Manor Inn.
