Blakehurst's staff made my mom's transition an easy experience. ALL of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We made requests to have changes to meet my mom's needs such as lowering the mailbox and shelving in her closets and everything was done prior to her arrival. The dining area is lovely and inviting. My mom likes the food and the variety of choices! She's indicated that they don't salt the food but let you add to your taste and needs, which is great! There are plenty of activities going on and if your favorite isn't there, you can sign up and invite others to play. My mother loved meeting all of the directors of each department such as nursing, activities, housekeeping, etc. who came up individually in ten minute intervals to meet and greet Mom and explain the services available to her. As Mom has met the residents who have been here from 4 months to 10+ years, they have all expressed how happy they are with their choice to live at Blakehurst. My mom also loves the fact that having plenty of stores, the post office, bank, Giant, and other stores to browse makes her feel independent without driving. But Blakehurst does offer their van to take its residence anywhere within a five mile radius. At Blakehurst doctors such as a dermatologist, podiatrist, etc. are available in the building with office appointments. Also a bank, hair stylist, and manicurist are also available in the building on certain days. Plus, services such as weekly removal and washing of towels and sheets, biweekly apartment cleaning, maintenance of heating/air conditioning and appliances are all included in living there. Plus, the lifeline necklace or push buttons in the apartment make me feel that someone is always there if my m needs them. This too, is included as a resident!

My family found Blakehurst to be the perfect fit for my 72 year old aunt. This community has so much to offer seniors wanting to live independently, but with assistance and nursing care if needed. Well worth the expense, the apartments along with all of the amenities make us feel much more comfortable with her living in this community. There is an on site bank, laundry facility, grocery store, and salon. Transportation is provided for larger grocery trips, doctor's appointments, casual fun and entertainment, other communities, and just about any needs or wants for travel. The unit also is inclusive of cable connection, light housekeeping, and basic utilities. The staff is very friendly, polite, and supportive to the families.

We have been residents here for two months and are still enamored with Blakehurst Retirement Community. From the front desk, to the staff and through to the wait staff and the kitchen, all have treated us with kindness and consideration. Not an easy task dealing with seniors who are a bit demanding sometimes. A real plus for late risers like us is the dining room being open really late. The physical facilities are excellent and constantly being upgraded. The pool is very relaxing. What impressed me more than any other retirement community we visited in Towson is that is is very refreshing in this period of uncertainty to have a management that is putting money into the upgrading and maintaining of its facilities. We would certainly encourage anybody who is looking for a continuing care retirement community to check out Blakehurst. We thought enough of this community that we invited our neighbors to join us here - one of which did and is very happy.

Blakehurst is a spectacular retirement community! Most importantly, the community and everything in it is well thought out and built specifically with residents in mind. The doorways are wheelchair wide, the bathrooms are large, the apartments are huge. It is immaculately kept clean and the staff are outstandingly helpful and friendly. They have activities planned daily, plus a game room, a library, and a large pool. I can't praise the food enough. It was that of a five star restaurant. I searched and searched for something wrong and couldn't find it. Blakehurst is so well planned for every conceivable "needs" situation. It's not over priced and I found no hidden costs. A MUST see to believe.

We were very impressed with the director who gave us the tour. Very good meal also. Blakehurst is definitely on our short list of retirement communities in the Baltimore area.

Blakehurst has been a positive experience for our whole family. My mother has her own lovely apartment, yet is safe and secure, knowing someone is near if she needs anything. The food is fresh, healthy, and appetizing, with personal requests taken gladly. Daily activities abound, with a variety of activities to suit all tastes. However, the best thing about Blakehurst is the staff. Each and every one is professional, friendly, kind, and eager to help in any way.I can't recommend Blakehurst highly enough.
