Racist comments from Malik,



On September 24, 2015 I was at the Towson Park Exxon Station at 625 York Road in Towson Maryland. I stopped with the intention to fill up my car with gas. I was among other patrons and took my place in line. When it was my turn to be waited on I started to state ‘I would like …”. I was cut off by the attendant (Malik) who attempted finish my sentence by saying in a very loud voice “NEWPORT”.

As an African American I understood the nature of his statement. I was aghast. As he stood arrogantly, seeking recognition from his co-worker (who shook his head in disapproval), and from the other patrons (who were all standing in shock and discomfort) I reacted by seeking a superior for whom to launch a complaint.

I am not a Newport smoker and wish not to be publicly humiliated while attempting to patronize an establishment that clearly has unprofessional, and bigoted staff on its payroll. My hope is that this will not be tolerated for the better good of the reputation of the company.
