July, 2015 it began. Nightmare for 18 months. Bought a dress, the engagement fell through, was able to return the dress for Donna, the owner, to try to resell (thank you, it was a kind gesture), and I have been following up on that un-sold dress since July 9, 2015!!! I have kept records of our converstations. The excuses go from right to left as to why this "very popular style dress" is still sitting there. I get that, okay?But I went as far as having a BFF call to order the exact size of that dress only to be told that they would have to order one for her. Whaat?! Bologna!
Dec 20, 2016, (YES 2016) I called and requested they just send me back the dress and I would try to sell it myself. Ohhhh, I am told by Donna that someone is very interested in THAT dress and could I call back mid-January 2017. Yep, did that, she has been out of town, employees can't help me, on the other phone, will call me back, yada yada yada...
anyone want to drive with me to LA to get back this "very popular style dress"?! Arrgggg this Mama is MAD now! If I am refunded, I will gladly repost a multi-star review, but until then? No Way in helicoptor.

I am a woman writing this review on my husband's yelp account. I needed a modest lace jacket custom made to match my sleeveless lace wedding dress as well as an extra special temple dress, temple slippers, etc. Since this place does alterations AND has a selection of very pretty temple dresses on her website that I have not seen elsewhere, I chose to make an appointment. Some of the dresses she offers are available for you to try on at her location, some are special order. I ordered my lace dress dress for the temple and it was so worth it! I received many compliments on it! As for the custom jacket I needed made, Donna was very helpful from the beginning and knew what to do to make the jacket and the sleeveless wedding dress look like one dress. She offered several suggestions. FYI she runs her business out of her home. If she doesnt have an item on hand in your size or color, she knows where to go to find it, where to order it and how to make it work for your needs. She is very talented and knows her vendors. The end result for me was fantastic, I couldn't be more pleased. As with any special occasion dress or alterations, give yourself lots of time before your event so that it isnt a stress! I began planning for this a few months in advance. I suggest all ladies do the same, no matter where you shop. I highly recommend Donna and would choose her again in a heartbeat.

I had a really great experience with Donna at Dressy Occasion. I was initially thrown of, I didn't expect the shop to be in her home. However, I was pleasantly surprised that she had a huge selection of modest dressed to pick from and it was so nice to have her attention all to myself. I described what I was looking for and she pulled everything in her inventory that she felt like suited my needs. I probably tried on 6 or 7 different dresses and settled on the second dress that I had tried on. I also purchased a veil, slip, sash, and paid for alterations at the time of purchase. I found her prices to be very reasonable (for a bridal shop) and that they compared to every other shop that sell the same brands.
I had an unexpected complication arise when my mom who lives in Utah had already found someone to do alterations. She was very sad and disappointed that if I went ahead with the alterations in California, she wouldn't be able to be a part of my dress buying experience at all. I called Donna and explained the situation and asked her if I could take the dress with me instead of having fittings and alterations done through her. She was very nice and understanding about it. She was even willing to refund the money I had paid towards alterations and only charged me a small fee. I felt like that was very reasonable since I was the one that made a non-refundable purchase/decision. It was VERY KIND of her to sympathize with my situation and help me out even though she had no legal or professional obligation to do so.

Five stars all the way!! We live in Arizona, and there is absolutely no place in the Phoenix area to buy a modest wedding dress, so we went looking on-line. My daughter found a dress she fell in love with on Donna's site. We were worried about buying a dress on-line that we couldn't try on first. My daughter was willing to take the chance and purchase the dress, without being able to try it on. We were amazed!! It fit almost perfectly! We were so excited!! Absolutely looked gorgeous on her.

As far as working with Donna, she was also amazing! She even delivered the dress to us, as she was coming to the Phoenix area for a visit. We were thrilled to be able to meet her, she was so kind, and sweet. Thank you so much for helping make the wedding dress buying experience such a pleasant one for us! And, by the way, the word on the streets is that Donna is opening a store here in October!! Can't wait!! As a mother of 7 daughters we are anxious to finally have a store close by that sells modest dresses!!

Donna was so helpful and patient with me! I can't believe the reviews she's gotten. I feel like they're really misleading because she was wonderful. She was not at all pushy or anywhere near mean. I loved the dresses and she had great suggestions that were very insightful. I would recommend this store to my close friends and family. Very friendly!

Donna was so helpful in helping me select a Mother of the Bride dress. She had so many dress styles and fabrics to choose from, I was very impressed. I am truly happy that she has modest dress styles because they are so hard to find. I am very glad that I found "A Dressy Occasion" and I will use them again for other occasions and highly recommend them to others who are looking for bridal and special occasion dresses. Five stars!!!

Rude, over-priced, ill-fitting dresses. On top of that, they completely rob you on alterations. I would NEVER suggest this store.

This is an outstanding wedding boutique with attentive personal service. Even though we purchased our daughter's wedding dress in a state near our Montana home, the owner spent nearly three hours with us fitting the dress and choosing wedding invitations. We did purchase stunning bridesmaids' and mothers' dresses here, which were fitted carefully. We looked in three states for modest gowns; the selection and personal service here were the BEST!
