We hired Mr. Stroup 11/4/2016. Stroup told my husband there was no fee until case was closed. After being home from hospital, I called Stroup to schedule appt to meet him. Stroup said it would be a ‘waste of time’ because there was nothing he could do yet. A week later I gathered bills together, I called him for an appt. He told me I could email the bills or leave them w/receptionist. That it would be ‘a waste of time’ for both him & me to meet. I hired a new attorney. My first talk with my new attorney said that my auto ins had a Med Pay. When my new attorney called my ins. co. to look into it, he was told that the check had already been sent to Stroup, payable to him and me. Over the next few weeks, my new attorney tired repeatedly to have Stroup sign the check over to me so I could pay the med bills that are streaming in. Stroup refused. Stroup even put a lien on my auto ins co. The ins co couldn't place a stop payment on the check and reissue one to me because of lien from Stroup.
