Yesterday, Shanika did a lazy job on my full sew in weave. My braids were extremely big and different sizes. She also opted not to use a hair net underneath the weave, although she informed me that it would preserve the braids. In addition, she didn't use any of the products I brought with me to ensure my scalp was greased and my hair was treated. She kept my back to the mirror the whole time; which should have been a sign. Nonetheless, she put my two packs of hair on my head and prepared to send me on my way without cutting and shaping it to fit my face. After requesting it to be cut, she did so quickly, but that didn't improve the look. As I told her when I arrived, I believe wearing weaves should be natural looking. So, you can understand my surprise when she failed to give me a natural look. She saw the disappointment in my face while in the chair, so she decided to give my hair a curl. I left the shop disappointed and not feeling confident about my look.
Shortly after leaving the salon, someone told me that I looked like I was wearing a wig. This was confirmed again by another person.
This morning, I looked even worse than the day before. I sent her a text asking if she could cut bangs to improve the look. The whole day went by and Shanika didn't even have the common decency to respond. Finally, I went to the Dominicans and paid to have the bangs cut. Overall, my experience was not a good one. If she didn't know how to do a full sew in, she shouldn't have used me as a guinea pig. Nor do I think you should do lazy work on customers.
I paid $115 ($100+ $15 tip) to look like broomhilda. For all who are wondering why I gave her a tip its because, I usually tip the minimum of 15% when services are rendered.
I can't recommend anyone to use Shanika. If she responded to my text, perhaps I could give her credit for trying to fix a wrong, but since she didn't respond, I'll show my displeasure in this review.
It's really sad that some people don't have a good business head. Although this was my first time there, it wouldn't have been the last, had she provided better service. I try to work with people when they try. As a result, that salon lost an excellent customer.
