Moved into a new Apartment in Sep. 2015 where heat was from a single set of tanks for all units and separate meters for each unit. After calling to have the meter unlocked and paying a large security deposit (the ONLY utility company that required one) it took the until Jan 2016 to get my Meter unlocked and my heat turned on.When i saw one of there service trucks (not a delivery truck) in a neighbors driveway, called the company and refused to get off the phone until my meter was unlocked, which took over two hours as the sent a different tech.

This September the building was sold to a new landlord, who switched propane companies to Polsinello Fuels. I had my heat setup with the new company the next day, two months faster than John Ray and Sons. Polsinello's price is also over $2 a gallon cheaper. It's now been almost 3 months and John Ray and Sons 4 Tanks are still sitting in my driveway as the can't be bothered to get them off the property.

The worst part is John Ray and Sons has yet to refund my security deposit after 3 Months, Despite me calling them every single week and being told they were processing the payment and sending me a check. Last I heard they had to have there parent company send the check, and that was 2 weeks ago. The worst part is the security deposit was larger the the total fuel cost for the little over a year I was a customer.

I had switched toJohn Ray and Sons to service my furnace. They said I had a crack in the fire box and the furnace would need repair or replacement soon. They also came up with another $250 repair that I had done at their recommendation. A few short weeks later I had an oil delivery and noticed 2 days later a considerable amount of black soot all over my siding and deck where the intake was. I called and they charged me over $400 to clean the furnace AGAIN giving me no satisfactory reason why this happened. Last year I had another company clean the furnace and they said there was no crack in the fire box. I spoke to John Ray who admitted that I shouldn't have been charged the $400+ for the second cleaning but refused to give me any type of reimbursement. They had no explanation for the claim of a cracked fire box.

There's not a Ray or a Son left in this company. It was sold last year to an out of state corporation. Prior to that, they hired a sleaze ball of a service manager who brought in a new pricing system, with mark ups of 500% in some cases, so as to show a bigger profit to make the company more desirable to sell. My best friend's husband used to work for this company. He was lured away from another company, by the then-owner, Ken Ray. He was very opposed about this new pricing and the push to sell rather than to repair, as he is an HVAC technician, who prides himself on repairing vs. replacing. Well, on Christmas Eve 2012, they fired him, after 7 loyal years with this company. What kind of lowlifes fire anyone on Christmas Eve!!!!!! I am telling anyone and everyone I know: DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE SCUMBAGS AND THIEVES!
