John M. Mullins Rigging and Hauling, Inc. was founded in 1932 by John M. Mullins. John worked for his father, John P. Mullins or "JP", in Poultney, Vermont using horses, wagons, and gin poles to perform hauling and rigging jobs. John proposed the idea of buying a flatbed truck to his father but was told that motorized vehicles had no place in their line of work. JP told John that if he wanted a truck 'he should go into business for himself and buy one'. He did just that and John M. Mullins Rigging and Hauling, Inc. was created. John and his wife, Agnes, ran the company together for many years. In 1965 John passed away but Agnes continued to operate the company. Their sons, John and Marty, also became involved in the family business. Today, Marty operates the company as President. Continuing the family tradition that dates back to the 1800's, Marty's children, Laura and John M. Mullins II, work in the business today. As Marty says, "I guess it's in the genes."Our union affiliated business continues to flourish thanks to our dedicated staff and commitment to excellence!
