It is our desire to provide a happy, safe, and fun learning environment for kids. Our mission is to partner with parents and provide a safe, nurturing, stimulating program that introduces our students to God's love and gives them a strong academic foundation for success in school. In all of our preschool programs and elementary programs we offer a positive, nurturing environment with age-appropriate learning activities that focus on gross and fine motor skills, socialization, language skills, literacy, phonics, music, bible stories and much more. We believe that children learn through play. We understand that through play, the five senses, and hands on activities children can discover new things about themselves and the world around them every day. We hold teacher/parent conferences twice a year and provide a progress report each trimester.  It is important for our students to feel like we are an extension of their family so hugs, smiles and play comes naturally from our professional staff.  We offer classrooms with mixed ages of 3, 4, and 5 year olds with flexible attendance options to meet parents’ busy schedules as well as morning classes for 3 year old students only and morning classes for 4 year old only students.   This literacy rich program builds alphabet recognition and phonemic awareness. Children experiment with basic math concepts through a hands-on curriculum which includes counting, classifying, comparing, sorting, patterning, one-to-one correspondence and number recognition. Creative play and the use of different art media encourage experimenting and problem solving. During the year the children also attend music and library taught by our specialists. Monthly field trips are taken by each class to enhance the curriculum theme.  Along with our curriculum we have a Bible story and memory verse each week.  Once a week our students attend chapel, music, and library as well. Pre-Kindergarten Programs are designed for students who will be entering Kindergarten the next school year.  The classes emphasize emergent literacy, pre-writing, pre-reading, phonemic awareness and basic math concepts.  Each program is structured to develop skills in positive work habits, following directions, working independently, and strengthen listening skills and encouraging personal responsibility.  Our desire is to prepare students to meet the State of Oregon kindergarten entry benchmarks. Before and After School Care Before and after school extended care is offered from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm. Our facility includes a playground, sports fields and a gym. We keep our students actively learning with science, art, drama, crafts, games, a homework time, and other educational activities! On non-school days field trips and themed activities are explored to enhance the student’s experiences.

My children felt loved and enjoyed preschool so much they cried when I picked them up. I am a teacher and loved that the preschool teachers have their bachelors or masters degree. Several of our coworkers have their students at Horizon and we all agree it is the best preschool in town.
