The Arizona Air National Guard is divided into two units: the 161st Air Refueling Wing in Phoenix and the 162nd Fighter Wing in Tucson, Ariz. The 92-acre base in Tucson serves as one of the premier fighter pilot training programs in the United States. It is home to F-16 training for the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and foreign governments. The 162nd is comprised of three squadrons: the 152nd, 195th and 148th Fighter Squadrons. There are more than 140 Air Guard units throughout the U.S. and its territories. While missions vary from unit to unit, some interesting ones include pararescue missions, modular airborne firefighting support, combat communications and air traffic control.
