The Ambient Air technician that came to my elderly family member's service call talked her into a brand new, significantly overpriced, AC unit instead of making the needed repair. In addition, the quote for the repair itself was grossly overpriced. The technician used the freon law (which was first announced in 2010) as the reason why she needed to replace her unit at only 10 years old, acting like it was a new law. This over-exaggeration inflicted fear that her machine would be obsolete much sooner than reality. (The true case with the law is that after 2020 freon will no longer be available and a new machine would be necessary, should there ever be a freon leak.)
Once we got a second opinion on the matter, it was also discovered that all along (the last 10 years for this particular machine at least - she was a 15 year customer) they have been nickel and diming her for unneeded parts.
Needless to say, my elderly family member will never use this company again. I am disgusted that no loyalty or respect for her 15 year patronage was shown to her. Additionally, I should mention that she also has a degenerative eye disease which prevents her from reading print, such as contracts. She was asked to sign the contract for the new AC unit and the financing for it without reading anything. She was also told not to worry because if she were to pass away while still owing the finance company they would have to absorb it and nothing would effect her family.
I do not recommend this company to anyone, especially anyone elderly because their technicians are clearly taught to lie and up-charge, taking complete advantage of people.
I would like to add, the total cost of the fix was $197, Ambient Air's total cost was $7000 for the new machine (repair quote was $595).

This company is absolutely horrible. After coming out and replacing my air compressor through warranty work and accidently grounding it out, they sent a new guy out(1 1/2 weeks later) the new guy apparently didnt get it right either. When called on a weekend to fix it instead of offering some help they told us to call our warranty company and start a new work order and "they would get us on the schedule". After breaking our system they offered zero support on fixing it.

Ambient Air had serviced my ancient AC unit for the last 3 years. I had always found them prompt, polite and honest...I always felt like they were more interested in providing great service than in making a quick buck.

So when it was time to replace my AC unit, I felt confident in my choice to have Ambient Air do the job. I am happy to report that they installed my new AC unit today. The installers were polite and didn't leave a mess in my home. They explained everything in ways that an AC novice could understand. I got a great deal on a Rheem unit that qualifies for the energy tax credit. The job was done on time and my home is the perfect temperature!

I highly recommend Ambient Air. The sales department wasn't pushy....there were no unsolicited phone calls or high pressure sales pitches. They just let me take my time (about 2 years) when I was making the decision to purchase a new unit.

Ambient Air has a A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and I know why!
