My son sprained a tendon in his right ankle. He went to NW Hospital to have it looked at and was sent home with a removable plastic cast that needed to be wrapped with a large ACE bandage to stay on his foot. We researched options and found a cast shoe on line at Amazon that would enable him to walk without the risk of slipping on the plastic bottom of the removable cast. Since we believe in supporting local business, we decided to visit the Hanger store instead of ordering the shoe from Amazon. I called the store to see if they carry the item and was told, "yes", it is in stock.

When I arrived at the store I was asked to fill out two pages with sensitive information like SS numbers, DOB etc. I advised the young lady at the reception desk that we are paying out of pocket. After a series of eye-rolling and dirty looks on her part, a clinician was summoned to speak to me.

He advised me that Hanger cannot sell me a shoe although he has the desired item in stock and in the correct size. I am a Geriatric Care Manager in private practice and I have never been treated like this by a medical professional. I can only speculate on the reason for the refusal to sell the item to me.

Bottom line: We ordered the item thru Amazon, it was delivered overnight express and it is exactly what we were looking for. I will never refer any of my clients to Hanger. The staff at this particular store is inexperienced and rude.

I got a pair of orthotic's from HANGER FOOT in tucson Arizona and they were made for some body else's feet , Not mine , The last pair we got from them we like. the NEW one's I will be taking back .
