The star rating isn't fair. The Dentist deserves a four at least. Very nice office. Dr. Hornsby is a man of few words but does good work. His assistant and Hygenist are so very nice! Warm and comfortable. But, the person who handles the billing is incompetent and rude. I was not born with good teeth and have spent, literally 100s of hours in the dentist chair and a lot of money. But, I lost my job in the middle of replacing a bridge in the top/front of my mouth. I wore a plastic temp. bridge for 2 years and when I finally got a job, I went to Dr. Hornsby. I explained to the billing person that I had no credit as I'd lost everything and had to file bankruptcy. I told her I'd need a pre-approval from my insurance company and an exact amount for my portion. She wrote a figure down and I came up with the $2500 that was my share. The very day that the dentist began the work--after he'd done the work and I was on my way out, she tells me that my procedure may not be approved!!! OMG! Now, months later, I receive a bill from her for another $625. I had spoke to her on the phone and she admitted that she did not get prior approval, she just looked up costs... In all the years (I'm 55) that I've gone to the dentist and paid many thousands of dollars, have I ever run into such incompetence. And this even after I explained my situation. I'm just getting back on my feet and paying off a loan for the $2500 and now I have to come up with more. I had to have front teeth to look for a job and I'd suffered for two years. You'd think she would have done the right thing. I've never had anyone NOT provide prior approval when they accepted my insurance plan. Amazing. And such a great dentist and staff. My company changed insurance plans, now Dr. Hornsby doesn't accept my insurance which means I'll pay more out of pocket. I'd still go to him but not with her there. Now I'm in a bad position and have no way to pay the bill except in installments. On top of that, she was rude and constantly interrupted me trying to blame it on my insurance plan. I have had them in the past and never had any problem. When I called them they confirmed that she never got a pre-approval. If they get someone competent, I will definately go back. Really nice people and good work. I'm upset that I have to find another dentist too.
