We had SunPower install solar panels a few years ago. When it was installed, we asked about the process when our roof needed recoating. We were told that roofers didn't have a problem as the panels lifted up. Well the time came and we looked all over Tucson to find a roofer who would lift the panels. We couldn't find one. We even offered to lift them ourselves so they could paint underneath. SunPower wanted $1000 to remove them which is the only way a roofer would touch our roof. In the end, SunPower indicated they didn't want to remove them. Throughout the process, they continuously said they did roof work. In the end, they had to do the work. Nobody else would. Their estimate was $1,000 higher than the other roof quotes but we didn't have an option.
