Susan Musal is a family nurse practitioner who believes in the importance of prevention and living a healthy lifestyle in all aspects of life. “I think that unhealthy living is a problem across the country, so my biggest joy in caregiving is teaching people how to be the healthiest they can be,” she said. “Education of healthy living and self-care is something I incorporate into the care I provide.” A lifestyle coach trained by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control Diabetes Prevention Program, Musal is passionate about the care of diabetic and pre-diabetic patients and loves aiding them on the path to good health, with the goal of avoiding the disease. Having been on the receiving end of care with her mother, she learned how to advocate for another person with a “heart of love.” Now, as a provider herself, she advocates for her patients and believes that all people deserve excellent care with empathy, knowledge and kindness. She strives to build honest, trusting relationship with patients and approaches them as if they were part of her own family. “I take the relationship with my patients very seriously,” she said. “I love what I do, aiding individuals and families to be the most well that they can be. We are partners in health.” As a registered nurse, she enjoyed working in the clinic setting with the various ages and populations, so when it came time to advance her career, primary care came naturally. She finds it rewarding to care for a whole family and making a difference across the life span. Having grown up in Northeast Ohio, Musal received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from The Ohio State University and completed her nurse practitioner training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
