Established in 1958, Townsend Middle School enrolls more than 600 students in grades six through eight. It offers a variety of academic programs in language arts, mathematics, sciences and social science. The school s library provides resources, such as books, journals and magazines and Internet access. Townsend Middle School also offers programs in health and physical education. The school provides a range of multicultural activities, and offers counseling and career programs to students. The school offers sports activities and has various clubs and organizations. The school has a parent-teacher association that increases awareness in curriculum for development of students through proper communication between home and school. Its extracurricular activities include summer camp, jazz band, yearbook and student newspaper. It organizes Black Light Social for students who have purchased a yearbook with live disc jockey, paint, food and drinks.
