The Tucson Communications Division provides fire and medical emergency services to the city residents. It is one of the departments of the city of Tucson. The department also maintains wireless and data communications systems to assist the city departments in delivering public services. The division has a special emergency unit that employs a professional staff of telephone operators to attend calls from people trapped in emergency situations, such as accidents, acts of violence and robbery. Additionally, its staff takes the location of the emergency from the caller which enables it to connect the call to an appropriate agency that provides immediate assistance to the victims. The Tucson Communications Division is also responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment used in the city of Tucson's point-to-point and multi-point communication systems.
