The South Memorial Sertoma Club is one of 700 Sertoma International Clubs located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The club s name, Sertoma, is a combination of the words Service to Mankind. Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., Sertoma is a certified nonprofit organization with 20,000-plus members. Every year Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects. Sertoma s primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. It also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs, as identified by the individual clubs. The first Sertoma Club was organized in 1912.
