I was passing through Tunica on a road trip. I live in California. I was in the early stages of a migraine and without my medication. I called ahead and arrived for a brief office visit. A nurse took my vitals and said I should wait for the doctor. I waited 30 minutes and when Dr. Amina Shahid came in to see me she asked a few questions and decided that, in spite of my being a vegan yogi and the healthiest cleanest looking 50 year old between here and Mexico, that I was obviously a drug crazed user. Se called my doctor and though they didn't give her any information other than confirming that I was their patient and they wrote my original prescription, which was gone, she came back in to the treatment room and told me that they had told her all sorts of suspicious things - I checked with them - they did not - and refused to eat me. Rather than provide me with the prescription my family doctor had given me she offered me some new drug, which I told her I would not take. Se refused to give me the drug I needed and insinuated that I was a liar and a narcotic abuser.



How does it make any sense to give a patient you don't know a drug they've never taken while they are traveling. What was I supposed to do if it didn't work, or worse yet if it had made my symptoms worse or if I'd had an adverse reaction?



Not good medicine. I was not treated and did not receive care so I refused to pay for the visit. Se wasted my time and worse left me with a severe migraine on a road trip when she could have given me just enough Vicodin to get me through a day and the migraine that was coming without any risk of my becoming addicted.



I have had migraines since this young woman was in elementary school. Se may have a medical degree, but a good doctor listens to the patient and noes the patient knows her own body best.
