Established in 1966, the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society preserves Tuscaloosa County's historic resources across Alabama. The Society operates and maintains the historical landmarks in Alabama. It deals in maintaining landmarks, including the Old Tavern, the Battle-Friedman House, McGuire-Strickland House, Murphy African-American Museum and the Drish House. The Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society Research Library features collections on local history and architecture. the facility also deals in the maintenance of endangered structures and seeks preservation solutions for the structures. It works with local governments and agencies to promote historic preservation.
