Provided by YP.comNever Again!
I popped in for a quick cut. I'm not from round here so it took a little time to get going with them at the front desk. The owner/franchisee appeared and told me she's cut my hair. She asked if I had a coupon, I didn't so I was then briskly escorted to a chair and off we went for a whole new adventure.
I could hear a guy protesting about going beyond a basic cut, he was being sold hard, but no was no...
She asked me what I wanted, I gave clear instructions, but it was clear that we didn't share the same command of english. e.g. grade 2.5 became grade 2, and proceeded to go straight in with the clippers to the side of my hair. Too late now, no going back, a little brutal with the rest of the cut, I decided enough was enough - time to pay and get going.
I was up for having more of an MVP treatment, whilst I didn't ask for it, they didn't try to sell it, so after my cut, I bolted for the door handing $20 to the desk lady and getting the hell out of dodge.
Will I be going back there? Hell no.

Provided by YP.comIt takes A LOT for me to nag online, but I have to. I just moved to Irvine so I figured I'd give this place a shot. Bad move! I'm very particular about my hair...don't do the clean-cut look, yet I don't let it get too long and crazy. Plus, I'm Latino, so my hair is more ethnic (more naturally curly, not the sleek straight hair Asian or Caucasian men have, that they're probably used to). I had purposely let my hair grow out for 3 MONTHS, just so I can accomplish a specific look I've received elsewhere before. I explained how I wanted it, in detail, asking for a slight trim with scissors only, no clippers. I thought she understood. First thing she does is whip out the clippers and BUZZ two huge holes into the back of my head! I stopped her immediately, addressed the matter as politely as I could, and she just brushed me off like nothing was wrong. "It's WAY too short," I said, multiple times. "But it look betta," she replied. Sorry, but am I the customer or not? Since the damage was done, and my pride twice removed, I told her to just finish it off, no turning back now, right? Later in the day I took a closer look at my cut, and found more imperfections, which I personally had to fix with my beard trimmer. Blend in the back was uneven, trimming around my ears was sloppy, and way too much was taken off the top. I shouldn't have paid for it, but I'm not THAT much of a hard a**. I only wanted to pay for the haircut, but she kept insisting on the MVP "$19 dolla special." I shouldn't have, but I gave in. Sports Clips claims to have guy-savvy stylists, not the case here. I get this place's concept, sports decorations and tv's, so-called attractive Asian stylists, all of it sadly overrated. The only positive take-aways from this Irvine location (in The District) was the steam towel. After this fiasco, I needed it. If you're after a typical, normal, clean-cut look, this may be the place for you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this location for men of color, or for anyone serious about their hair style. I wouldn't even give the haircut one star.
