Provided by YPmobileWhat a crap hole. This place is completely junky and smells like trash. I can't even begin to describe how unorganized and junky this place was. I felt like I needed to take a shower after being in there due to the downright dirtiness of this place. I was never acknowledge. I had no clue who in the hell even worked there. I had to ask and the guy said "I run this place" didn't give me a name or ask if I needed help. I had to ask for his name. His name is Mark. Went over to Ground Zero. Completely opposite of this crap hole. Ground Zero is the only place in town I would go.

Provided by YPmobileBest place for Magic or any other card game, board game, or anything else you can think of. Great people, great products, great prices, a friendly atmosphere, and everyone gets along! Definitely recommend! I prefer Geek World to the real world!

Provided by YP.comBrak is the worst sales associate I've ever seen. I've seen him manipulate this store into his own little private club for his gaming society. He'll talk up whatever game he's into at the moment and encourage newbies to buy up all the gear, then switch his society over to some other game and leave you in the dirt with a bunch of useless crap. Also, you better kiss up to him or he will make you feel like you are all but a little but that has been put on this earth for him to squash, but he's a real click-ish jerk who manipulates the store owners to his whims by totally kissing up to them at any and all times. It used to not be that way when they first opened up, but nowadays......beware of Brak and his destructive ways!! Also, a lot of people used to feel like Ground Zero were the Nazi's................it appears all Geek World has evolved into is Brak's own personal regime. He uses his gaming status in the local gaming society to manipulate sales for Geek World, so they let him run his own brand of dominion over the customers.........again, beware........he'll lie cheat and be-little you every bit as much as the folks over at Ground Zero ever did to him........even worse at times. The Mark's are pretty cool, and the mother who is there is a nice lady as well,.......too bad they have let this jerk Brak take over under their noses. He kisses up to them so they have no idea what a jerk he can be and how he uses his the place as means to his own ends. Run from Brak and anything he's associated with. Unfortunately, this means Geek World.

Provided by YP.comThe first time I went in, a few months ago, I noticed that it was a little smelly and that nobody wanted to have anything to do with me, including the staff. I figured it was just an "off day," which everyone is entitled to, so I gave them another shot recently.
My second trip was much worse. It smells really bad in there. Terrible BO mixed with odorous food that has been dropped and not cleaned for a long time mixed with the proud "I'm a smoker" stink that was wafting from a few different players; I can't even imagine how horrible the stench will be in their shop during warm months. The atmosphere was vulgar and nobody seemed to mind. Everyone was divided into little cliques that didn't seem inviting. I didn't necessarily need more dice, but I wanted to at least try to support the LGS and their community. I tried again to get someone to help me at the counter, but the employee was too busy playing games as well.
Additionally, when someone pointed out who the owner was, I couldn't believe the way he was treating his customers/friends. He was aggressive, combative and antagonistic in a place where he should be encouraging, if nothing else, to the people that are earning him a living.
I tried to give them a second chance, but they've fully earned my dislike. There are two other gaming stores in Tyler: the one south of town doesn't support the game I play, but the staff seemed friendly enough. The one on the east side of town seems a perfect fit for me and my gaming needs: family appropriate, friendly encounters with painting customers and employees I would recommend trying those two first to see if they'll meet your collecting/hobby desires.
Maybe I've just hit them on two bad days, but honestly, the second one was bad enough that I won't try them again for at least a couple of years.

[EDIT:] A buddy pointed out that I might be posting in a state of irritation. Perhaps that is true; maybe it would be best to recommend trying all of the options, and see which one is the best fit for you. However, if you are easily offended by incredible stink coming from ...

Provided by YPmobileI've been coming to Geek World for almost 3 months now approximately. I loved it from the moment I walked in. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by multiple people that were playing a game at the front with hilarious witty comments that made me laugh and feel instantly comfortable being there. The selection of games is extensive. I'm a serious Whovian and they have a TON of Doctor Who collectibles and they're getting more as time goes on. The staff are all amazing kind, friendly, and very helpful. I quite literally have never been in a more laid back, chill, and hilarious at the same time store before. There's always something funny going on. And even if you just walked in 5 minutes ago, you can sit down with just about anyone, start up a game of your choice, and feel like you're hanging out with good friends by the time the game is over. So if you're a gamer, of any kind, and are bored.....come here. It's absolutely the coolest hangout spot in this city.

Provided by YP.comAs Cynthia says... lots of games. Good place to come and visit or just hang out. I haven't see any of the " racial insensitive, morally devoid, judgmental, hypocritical, and very segregative" actions or attitudes. The staff are helpful... Mr. Jalapeno had a axe to grind and he chose a poor way to do it.

Provided by YP.comUnfortunately the post by josejelepeno was actually written by a customer who was a regular until a few days ago when he was asked to please not come back anymore. He made several inappropriate comments to young women, and flirted with other women when his wife wasn't there. This made the other customers extremely uncomfortable. When he started verbally abusing his wife in the middle of the store, and it became general knowledge to the other customers that he had been arrested for something pretty horrible, it was the last straw for the manager, and he quietly took this customer aside and asked him very politely to find a different place to hang out, that it wasn't working out for him to be in the store. Apparently he spent most of the rest of the day posting hate.
The store actually has an amazing selection of both new and out of print hard to find games. They take selected games in great condition on consignment, so you can get much more than you could at a yard sale! They have Magic the Gathering cards in three different languages, World of Warcraft, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and more by the pack, box, and even a ton of singles.
There is a terrific store library of tabletop games for anyone to come in and use for free at any of the many game tables. The store hosts many different types of Role Playing Games, Magic the Gathering drafts on Fridays at 7p and Sundays at 4p. If you have a game you'd like to learn the very friendly employees or the other customers are almost always willing to take the time to teach you. This family owned and run store is the inspiration of a Navy veteran and his son, and is a wonderfully friendly place to shop for Geek gift items such as Dr. Who merchandise, fun t-shirts, art, jewelry, and more. They also have a miniature war gaming room and a ton of terrain that are available for free use anytime, and a shelf full of model building tools, glues, and paints available to use. There is a terrific selection of war gaming models, paints, and tools from both Games Workshop and Citadel, and anything they don't have they are more than happy to order for you.
This shop is a wonderful and friendly place to hang out, play games, purchase gifts and games, find people with similar interests, and indulge in your inner geek!
