I don't care if they have beards, or they serve me an hour after I ordered.. doesn't change the fact that it's the best quesadilla (burrito) I've ever had. I live in Dallas now and it still doesn't keep me from occasionally making the 1.5 hour trek just to eat at this place. These other reviewers are going to a hole in the wall and complaining about service and grooming??? Why?...

I stopped eating at this place as soon as I saw the guys in the kitchen with long beards!!! I hope they no longer work there! Sure the food is good but I can't get passed the beards!

We've been to 3 of the locations in Tyler. The food is great and consistent. The previous reviewer had a service problem, but aside from the wait we've never had any trouble. This is the classic small "hole-in-the-wall" kind of place where the food is great but you need to be willing to wait a few minutes if you're not the first in line. Our office staff love it, and it's become one of the places people just know about from a growing word of mouth reputation. You'll see bankers and day laborers and everyone else there -- except people in too much of a hurry. If you need it faster you can usually call ahead and they'll have stuff ready. The Number 7 is awesome, esp. with a little green sauce on each bite. Best value for real Mexican food. Word is that one of the other Mexican places was caught digging through their dumpster trying to figure out what cheese they use 'cause it's so good.

We visited Taqueria El Lugar on a sunday afternoon. We are always eager to try new places. When we placed our order there was only one other couple ahead of us. We ordered 3 tacos. After we ordered it got busy and more people began to order after us. We waited 30 minuetes and began seeing that the people that ordered after us were getting there food already. When we went to ask why our food was taking so long, they were rude and not helpful. It was very obvious that our ordered had been delayed and placed behind others. Also, they had loud rap music playing which was not very welcoming. We were very disappointed and will not visit the restaurant again.
