Head Start, a part of the Southern Seven Health Department, is a federally funded pre-school program for children between the ages of 3 and 5. The program provides center-based care for infants and toddlers between the ages of 6 weeks and 3. It offers educational, health, nutritional and transportation services. Each of the Head Start center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services as a child care facility. Its center has a family liaison who can assist families in securing other services in the community, such as medical care, energy assistance, housing, continued education, transportation and many others. Head Start also serves infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers with special needs. The program is located in Ullin, Ill.
