Provena Health is a Catholic health system officially formed Dec. 1, 1997 by uniting the health-related services of three Roman Catholic religious congregations. The congregations and organizations include Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart is sponsored by Franciscan Sisters Health Care Corporation, Frankfort, Ill. Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary, Holy Family Province, are sponsored by ServantCor, Kankakee, Ill. The third, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Regional Community of Chicago is sponsored by, among others, Mercy Center for Health Care Services, McAuley Manor and Fox Knoll, all of Aurora, Ill. Its integrated system includes six acute care hospitals and 14 long-term care residential centers. Additional services include 28 primary care, specialty and diagnostic clinics, as well as five home health agencies.
