I really like Pancheros. It's not a place to have a leisurely meal, but the tacos, etc. are fresh-made; the salsa is great; the prices are very reasonable; and the grease factor is low. Be sure to get the pico de gallo on your tacos; the crunchy freshness is a real pick-me-up.

I've been to every Pancheros in Des Moines and even all of them in Iowa City. Believe the hype! This place delivers great food for great prices. The Ankeny location doesn't make as big of burritos as the other locations so try else where first but if you are in a pinch Ankeny will do.

The food is prepared in front of you as you go down the counter. You select what you want in your taco or burrito. While the food is not that spicy it does seem to be pretty healthy and it's never stale.
