Provided by YP.comThis review is not based on work, but on character. I would not use Family Tree Removal after seeing an employee today who was wearing a Family Tree Removal hoodie stand in line in Clinton Township with his significant other who was not wearing a mask on voting day. Masks were even provided at the voting booths and she still refused after being asked to wear a mask. Someone that is with someone who does this and does nothing, only cares about themselves and doesn’t care about the well being of others, this not someone I want working in my yard.

Provided by YP.comI used them twice. First time was a great experience. They took down 10 arborvitae in some rock beds and ground the stumps without issue. Second time I had an issue regarding the scope of work. Four guys came to remove some trees/shrubs in my yard. I was removing most of my landscaping located in the same rock beds as the former arborvitae. Joe had asked if I was keeping the rock beds. If I was, he suggested that I “may” want to rake the rocks out of the way before they grind the stumps so that I wasn’t trying to pick out wood chips from the rock and told me he could send someone back when I was ready. Everything was removed satisfactorily that day and the yard was left clean. In the end I opted not to keep the rock beds and called to have someone come grind the stumps. The employee arrived and informed me he was not able to grind the stumps because of the rocks and that I needed to rake the rock away about 2-3 ft around all the stumps. I was quite surprised because #1) they would have done the stumps the day of removal which means they would have had to move the rocks anyway at that time based on what he was telling me and #2) this was not an issue for stump grinding my arborvitae 2 years earlier that were in those same rock beds. At that time the guy either moved the rock himself or ground the stumps despite the rock. Joe explained the concerns with the rock beds (equipment damage and flying rocks) which I can completely understand, but nowhere in my quote or in any previous discussions did he inform me that I was required to relocate the rocks prior to stump grinding. If he had, I never would have called to let him know they could come grind the stumps in the first place. If you quote a job you quote all the work required to complete the job or specify otherwise. The quote states homeowner is responsible for removal of wood chips, that’s it. I reached out to Joe especially considering that the stump grinding fee cost just as much as the removal fee so I was certain moving the rocks had to have been factored in to the quote. I wanted to give him an opportunity to find a mutually agreeable solution but that was not the case. Long story short I saw no chance to come to a satisfactory resolution and opted to pay for the removal services only and find someone else to do the stump grinding. This was either a case of extremely poor communication or a worker that just didn’t feel like doing what was necessary to complete a job. Moral of the story is get a VERY detailed quote that shows who is responsible for what work. The good news is that I can 100% recommended Steve from Hosner Stump Removal in Clarkston. He did all my stumps for $200 and I didn’t have to move any lava rocks. Saved me $450 so in the end it worked out for the best.

Provided by YPmobileFast bid. Best price. Arrived on time. Provided proof of insurance. Highly recommended. The only criticism I could have is that I didn't know Joe's crews work in stages. Tree cutting and chipping for day 1. Large wood picked up on day 2. Stump grinding on day 3. No big deal, but it would've been nice to know. Other than that, can't complain. I would hire them again, but I don't have any more trees!

Provided by YP.comJoe and his team removed two VERY large spruce trees from my yard, ground down the stumps along with those from two others that had been previously removed, then trimmed branches from off of the roof around our house. His team was prompt (even EARLY!), attentive, thorough, polite, and friendly, and cleaned up the area after completing the job. And their price was more than fair. I highly recommend them to handle any of your tree-related maintenance or removal. Thanks, Joe!

Provided by YP.comAWESOME JOB....
I had Joe and his team trim two trees one of which was over some power lines and the other that was hanging over my roof, and completely drop a tree in my front yard. I was very pleased to see the completed job when I got home from work, the team that was out to my house cleaned up everything and were friendly with the questions that my fiance and I had when they were finishing up. I was overly impressed and this will definately be the place I call when I have more of the trees in my yard disposed of. I would recommend this company hundred times over. I am going to be a repeat customer for sure.

Provided by YP.comUnbelievable price! They came out and left the quote in the mailbox, they were half the price of the two other quotes we received. The crew was very professional and knew what they were doing. They took down three large pine trees near our back patio and removed the stumps. Cannot say enough about what a great job they did, very pleased!!!
