Provided by YP.comWARNING: Dr Donna Scolaro is NOT a kid person!!! I brought my 5 year-old here with a referral from our pediatrician. She came out to get us with the snippiest attitude...no warmth, no eye contact, no introduction, and no explanation as to what she was going to do. My little guy was as good as gold, although a bit uneasy about getting in the chair (he thought it was going to "go back, like the dentist's chair"). I was the only one to say reassuring things - she just snipped and snapped and quickly pushed him through the exam. I really don't think she was thorough. Even though I played it off that everything was fine, I could tell he sensed that she wasn't a kid person.
His initial eye exam at the pediatrician indicated that he might have Myopia, she said "he might have it a little, and it should be watched". She didn't offer any advice, though. I was the one that stated what I knew about the condition, and how kids with Myopia should have a lot of outdoor time and not a lot of TV/computer time. I told her about the fact that my son has an identical twin at home, and if he should be checked...She basically said not to bother. Now I'm worried that if I let it go, it could get worse.
I'm going to let my pediatrician know that Dr. Scolaro is not a good referral for kids, and I'm going to ask to have my son seen by another optometrist, just to be sure.
Just a note: ...and I'm saying this just because I'm so peeved right now... She looks like she fell off the '70s truck for bitter, over-tanned & leathery, hairsprayed housewives. Totally old-school, redneck Vacaville. You know what I'm talking about...

Provided by YPmobileI have been seeing this optometrist for 3 years now and I love her and her staff! My 6 and 4 years old see her also. My four year old wears glasses and looks forward to getting new ones from the friendly staff every year. In comment to the above review, I found everything you were saying to be opposite for my kids, but I am so sorry you were not able to have the same excellent experience my family has had. The above review was well written and thorough, but as soon as the negative comment regarding the doctors style ( which is not stuck in the 70's) was mentioned I dismissed it as will others. A doctors ability has nothing to do with clothing or hairstyle. To make fun of it is a form of bullying ( adult or child) and is a bad example for our children. Next time you are at a doctors office and do not know what is going on, ask questions no matter how much of an annoyance it seems to be to the doctor.
