I was recently in New Orleans and wanted to do a plantation tour with family and a friend. We toured two plantations in Vacherie and the Laura plantation was the better of the two by far. The lady that gave us our tour was a great story teller and really made us feel the history of the plantation. She put a lot of focus on the families of the plantation but then gave a lot of focus to the slave families and their stories, which I found to be the more important history lesson to be learned. All in all, this was a great tour and I hope if you tour this plantation you're lucky enough to have as wonderful a guide as we had.
