The Vail Police Department, established in 1966, is a full-service law enforcement agency that employs a staff of more than 60 full-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure the safety of exchange of information between law enforcement officers and the public. The Vail Police Department maintains a citizens police academy that provides programs and services for crime prevention in association with residents. The department also operates a communication center that maintains a multichannel police system and provides communication services for police, fire and emergency medical assistance. The Vail Police Department is located in Vail, Colo.
