VALCORE is an amazing little gem of the Vallejo Community for recycling. I was greeted by a young chipper woman who showed me the ropes and explained simply how to get my bottles recycled. Remove caps, place into separate barrels, and tada! DONE. Luckily I had all my caps removed before getting here, so it wasn't such a hassle as others have described.

While waiting in line, I was given company by the same woman who gave me extra info since it was my first time there. It may seem their main focus is on cans and bottle buyback, but they have a Reuse Barn with a nice collection of books ready to be taken in by avid readers. There's also other neat things in there, too. When I checked in, I found a set of Renaissance Fair costumes! What! Speaking of books, they also sort and provide some of those books to send to libraries in Africa through another charity organization. They also do some coastal cleanup work, too, among a handful of other things. Underneath it all, it's a great organization that really focuses on doing its part to help out not just others, but the environment, too.

I recall people complaining about removing caps elsewhere... why be annoyed by something so trivial when they do so much for the community? Do yourselves a favor and work those hands before heading over. It'll save you time.

Anyway, bravo, VALCORE. May you continue your work for years to come!

I have been recycling at Valcore for years. It is very well organized and managed. I don't know why the first reviewer had such a negative experience. It has always been a pleasant and easy way to recycle for me. They pay fairly and are very diligent. It's a great community service.

tHEY ARE LEGIT AND HAVE SOME OF THE HIGHEST PRICES PAID OUT FOR ALUMINUM AND PLASTIC.They actually employ mentally handicapped workers so filling up the cans and making sure the cans are weighed properly are your responsibility. Its not that difficult to keep an eye on your material all the way through the process of weighing it up and getting paid. The lady who complained above me obviously hasn't recycled that often or she would have known that what she was paid was about right. The only thing is they pay in checks and the chacks cannot be made for more than 25 bucks so you will recieve multiple checks on the spot if your total exceeds that.
